How far does it run?

On version 2.0.1 (the version shown on the title screen), the opening, the character choice and the first area’s tutorial run at about 60 fps (frames take about 16.7 ms). A 31-minute playtest ran with no GPU error and no crash, and a save from an earlier run loads and continues.

What to know

  • Only the first area has been played on this build; later areas are untested.
  • A new save written by the game has not been checked yet (the 31-minute playtest wrote none).
  • The picture has not been compared side by side with a Switch 2. The playtest found it fine; shaded ground and walls look lavender.
  • A cold start after a reboot can sit on the loading icon for over a minute.
  • Pokopia has 131,426 shaders. The official notes estimate a full shader build at about 6.4 hours on an M4 Pro; the Mac app tested there, built with the shaders the playtest used, was 7.9 GB.
  • iPhone and iPad are not tested, and no IPA has been built: a full iOS shader build would be needed first.

What you need

  • An Apple silicon Mac. Switch 2 games run on the Mac only for now; Intel Macs are not supported.
  • macOS 26.6 or later and Xcode 27.2 to build the app. See nxnative on Mac.
  • Your own copy of Pokémon Pokopia. Follow the official README for the build; this guide does not cover how game files are obtained or prepared.

nxnative is not an emulator: it rewrites the game’s own program to run on the Apple chip and rebuilds the Switch 2 graphics on Metal, one game at a time. The other Switch 2 games and how far each runs are on Switch 2 games on Mac.
